Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 4, 2026
Griffin Stream (“the app”) is a remote desktop client that connects directly to a Windows server that you (“the user”) run and control on your own computer. This policy explains what data the app handles.
Summary
- The app does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data to the developer or any third party.
- The app has no analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
- All data created by the app stays on your device, except for the remote-control traffic that flows directly between your device and your own server over an encrypted connection.
Data stored on your device
The app stores the following locally so it can function. None of it is sent to the developer:
- Server connection details you enter (server name, address/host, and port), saved as connection history.
- App preferences (display, input, and quality settings).
- A cryptographic key pair used to authenticate to your server. The private key is stored in the app’s encrypted storage (Android Jetpack Security / Keystore-backed) and never leaves the device.
You can remove all of this data at any time by clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling the app.
Data transmitted over the network
When you connect to your server, the app exchanges remote-desktop data directly with your server (video, audio, and your mouse/keyboard/gamepad input). This connection is:
- Established only to the server address you provide.
- Encrypted in transit using TLS.
- Never routed through, logged by, or accessible to the developer.
The app does not contact any developer-operated servers, and it uses no analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
Permissions
The app requests only the permissions required to operate:
- Internet / Network state / Wi-Fi state: to connect to your server and adapt to network conditions.
- Change Wi-Fi multicast state: to support Wake-on-LAN on the local network.
- Wake lock: to keep the screen active during a remote session.
- Vibrate: for touch/haptic feedback.
The app does not request access to contacts, location, camera, microphone, photos, or files.
Children’s privacy
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone.
